Begin your tour at 10am by meeting your guide and group at the fountain in City Hall Park, easily accessed by most NYC subway lines. After a short exploration of the area, begin your journey across the Brooklyn Bridge. Your tour guide will make several stops, where you will hear about the bridge’s history as well as anecdotes about the characters who helped build this iconic structure. You will have several chances for photo opportunities, as your tour guide will point out the many buildings and bridges that line or cross the East River.
Upon leaving the bridge, enter New York’s first suburb, the historic neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights. This delightful district will enchant you with is with its beautiful architecture, including several mansions and historic churches. See where General George Washington had his headquarters during the Battle of Brooklyn, stop by homes once occupied by authors Arthur Miller (Death of a Salesman) and Truman Capote (Breakfast at Tiffany’s). The highlight of this portion of the tour is a stop on the Brooklyn Promenade, where you will have an opportunity to soak up the views of the Manhattan skyline as well as the New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty.
Lastly, you will visit the exciting neighborhood of DUMBO (or Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass), once a gritty industrial part of town, now home to artists, galleries and shops. Visit Brooklyn Bridge Park before ending the tour at the Fulton Ferry Landing, where you will have the opportunity to try some of New York City’s best pizza and ice cream (at your own expense). The tour ends at the East River Ferry terminal with service to Wall Street, Midtown, Williamsburg, Governors’ Island and Queens at approximately 1pm.
